Fast and novel manufacturing technologies for thin multicrystalline silicon solar cells

Description: Das Projekt "Fast and novel manufacturing technologies for thin multicrystalline silicon solar cells" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von RWE Space Solar Power GmbH durchgeführt. The main objective of this proposal is the development of cost-effective technologies for the manufacturing of photovoltaic cells based on thin (below 200micrometer) conventionally cast multicrystalline silicon wafers and EFG sheets. To achieve this objective, a consortium has been formed to develop innovative cell structures and fast ( groesser 1dm(2) /3sec) low-stress manufacturing technologies suitable for processing thin wafers with high yield. The foreseen efficiency goals of 15.5 and 16.5 Prozent for respectively thin EFG cells and thin multicrystalline cells are a real milestone on the path to cost efficient PV. This will result in a very strong reduction of expensive silicon consumption below 4 (EFG) and 7(multi-Si) gr Si/Wp (10-12 gr Si/Wp for state-of-the-art) . A cost assessment twill be made for the developed innovative approach to verify the assumptions outlined in Music FM (CT94 0008) for module cost reductions below 1 Euro/Wp.
