Description: Das Projekt "Validierung des Sciamachy-Sonnensprektrums durch Okkultationsmessungen mit den LPMA / DOAS Balloninstrumenten (ID 349) mittels radiometrischer Kalibration" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Universität Bremen, Institut für Umweltphysik durchgeführt. Solar occultation measurements of the LPMA and the DOAS are used for SCIAMACHY validation. The level-1 products solar irradiance is validated by extrapolation of measured spectra at different solar zenith angels (Langley plot). To achieve this, a radiometric calibration is performed before and after each balloon flight. Both the LPMA and the DOAS instrument use solar occultation for the determination of trace-gas profiles. The combined wavelength range of the instruments (320-2400 nm) covers most of the SCIAMACHY spectral range at a comparable resolution, and thus offers the unique opportunity for a validation of the level-1 product solar irradiance. Prerequisite for the validation is a radiometric calibration of the LPMA and DOAS instruments, which is best performed prior and after the flight of the balloon. In this project, radiometric calibration of the balloon payload will be undertaken for all flights. This will be achieved by observation of stabilized calibrated sources (tungsten filament lamps) on the ground. The derived extra-terrestrial radiance will then be used to validate the SCIAMACHY solar spectrum.
