Description: Das Projekt "Das Reichsforstamt und der Umgang mit der Natur im Dritten Reich" wird/wurde gefördert durch: Andreas-Stihl-Stiftung. Es wird/wurde ausgeführt durch: Universität Freiburg, Fakultät für Umwelt und Natürliche Ressourcen, Professur für Wald- und Forstgeschichte.Im Jahre 1934 kam es in Deutschland zur Errichtung eines Forstministeriums in Gestalt des Reichsforstamtes. Dieses war zugleich oberste Jagd- und Naturschutzbehörde. Im Rahmen des Projektes sollen die folgenden Leitfragen beantwortet werden: Welche Rolle spielte das Reichsforstamt bei der Umsetzung nationalsozialistischer Ideale der Nutzung und des Schutzes von Natur (Schwerpunkt Forstwirtschaft)? Welche behördeninternen Prozesse steuerten maßgeblich das Erscheinungsbild und die Wirksamkeit des Reichsforstamtes? Gab es Unterschiede in der Umsetzung nationalsozialistischer 'Umwelt'-Politik auf der Ebene der Länder und Provinzen (Fallbeispiele)? Neben der Recherche und Analyse von Akten ausgewählter Staatsarchive sind Reste der Reichsforstamtsregistratur von besonderem Interesse. Sie befanden sich im Besitz des einstigen Leiters der Zentral- und Personalabteilung im Reichsforstamt, Heinrich Eberts, und werden heute im Institut für Forstpolitik der Universität Göttingen aufbewahrt.

Title: The Reichsforstamt and nature in the Third Reich
Description: In 1934 a Ministry of Forestry was established in Germany in the form of the Reichsforstamt (Reich s Forest Office), which in addition to presiding over forestry in the Third Reich also served as the primary hunting and nature protection authority. In the course of the study the following central questions should be answered: What roll did the Reichsforstamt play in the implementation of national socialist ideals in the context of the utilisation and protection of nature (with a focus on forestry)? Which authority-internal processes were primarily responsible for moulding the public image and the effectiveness of the Reichsforstamt? Were there differences in the implementation of national socialist environmental policy at the federal state and the province level (case studies)? In addition to the research and analysis of selected files from the national archive, the remains of the Reichsforstamt registry are also of particular interest. Once in the possession of the former chief of the central and personnel department of the Reichsforstamt, Heinrich Eberts, they are currently held by the Institute of Forest Policy of the University of Göttingen.
