Description: Das Projekt "Stoerung der Flockung durch chelatbildende Substanzen und Flockungsinhibitoren, Teil I: Entwicklung einer Flockungstestapparatur" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Wahnbachtalsperrenverband durchgeführt. Coagulation and flocculation have become important unit processes in the treatment of surface waters. For plant design and operation test methods are required which guarantee that significant process variables can be kept constant and that non-quantifyable effects are negligible. It was the purpose of this study to identify and quantify the effect of hydrodynamic parameters upon coagulation and flocculation in a continuous flow reactor. The test apparatus consists of a turbulent pipe flow for particle destabilization, a cylindrical reactor for particle agglomeration and a test filter for solid liquid separation. In a first series of experiments conditions for optimum particle destabilization were fixed. In a second set of experiments the effect of energy input, reaction time and stirrer shape on the aggregation process was investigated.
