Verbundprojekt: Rotierender Eintrittsfilter fuer Industriegasturbinen

Description: Das Projekt "Verbundprojekt: Rotierender Eintrittsfilter fuer Industriegasturbinen" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Apparatebau Rothemühle -Brandt + Kritzler- GmbH durchgeführt. Gas turbine fouling is a severe operational problem. Since a gas turbine consumes large amounts of combustion air, even low concentrations of contaminants can result in significant fouling of the gas turbine. Normally, gas turbine fouling concerns the compressor of the gas turbine. The contaminants precipitate on the blading of the compressor, affecting directly the airflow, the compressor discharge pressure and the isentropic compressor efficiency. Therefore, both the power and the overall gas turbine efficiency will decrease. In this project, a new innovative filter called the rotating inlet filter (abbreviated as RIF) will be demonstrated coupled to an industrial gas turbine. The performance of this filter has been already been tested compared with a static high-quality self-cleaning filter. The results reveal outstanding filtering characteristics for the new filtering concept. It has been found that both solid and liquid (mist) particles of diameter 0.3 mym and larger are most effectively removed from the air with persistent high collection efficiency under widely varying atmospheric conditions, including heavy fog.
