International Network on climate change 'INCA': Understanding Adaptation and Mitigation strategies of Tropical Andean People - Integrating rural development with forest functions: 2 case studies focused on trade-offs and conflicts of interest

Description: The specific objectives of Mr. Jost research are: - to contact an analysis of the biophysical and socio-economic factors that influence livelihood strategies of traditional Andean farmers and the study how these systems and the linked livelihood strategies influence their attitude towards projects for forest cover enhancement (eg. REDD). - to compare case study outcomes in order to generate key indicators for livelihood strategies in the tropical Andean region and to competitively assess trade-off between the options that improve food and income functions and these options that improve the ecosystem - to identify and disuses possible production systems that incorporate trees and forests in farming systems as adaption and mitigation security and a potential contribution of food security and income generation.
