Clean Energy Recovery from Biomass Waste and Residues (Bioware)

Description: Das Projekt "Clean Energy Recovery from Biomass Waste and Residues (Bioware)" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Universität Karlsruhe, Engler-Bunte-Institut, Bereich Gas, Erdöl und Kohle durchgeführt. The project centers on reduction of the main gaseous and particulate pollutants emissions from biowaste combustion by a cost effective one-step combined dry gas cleaning and particle removal system based on ceramic filter candles. The main innovation of the system is the introduction of a selective catalytic process in the candle medium to reduce Nox.The novel gas cleaning system will be developed and tested by performing both lybiratory experiments, and filtration tests in a small scale bubbling fluidised bed combustion plant. The system will be optimised for special biomass/waste fuels: lestherwaste from shoe industry, olive oil production waste and wood chips. The project will be accompanied by social, economical and environmental impact studies in order to set up criteria for the implementation of the developed cleaning/filtration technique and plant concept in other European areas.
