Description: Das Projekt "EVIDENCE of the Proven Economic Benefits of Sustainable Transport Initiatives to Facilitate Effective Integration in Urban Mobility Plans" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Wuppertal Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie gGmbH durchgeführt. The project EVIDENCE aims to provide advice to decision-makers on the economic, social and environmental benefits of sustainable mobility policies, measures, projects and initiatives. It will compile this information and present it in tailor-made form to the target audience: transport policy decision-makers and practitioners at the local and national level in Europe. This will encourage greater investment in sustainable transport and address a fundamental obstacle to the effective implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). A significant challenge of SUMP implementation is to link the process of developing a strategy with the allocation of funding by the national administration. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans are the result of an integrated planning approach to satisfy the mobility needs of people and businesses today and tomorrow. They address all modes and forms of transport in cities and their surrounding area and as such can provide a framework for an integrated sustainable urban mobility policy. The sustainable urban mobility policies, measures, projects and initiatives assessed in the EVIDENCE project can help to realise the objectives of SUMPs. EVIDENCE therefore aims to inform decision makers on the national level that sustainable transport initiatives provide value for money. Such initiatives may for instance be bike sharing schemes, congestion charging, parking fees, public transport systems, logistics, mobility management, public awareness campaigns or any other process to manage and influence trips and modal choices. The Wuppertal Institute manages work package 2, which pulls together the best available data on the economic, social and environmental costs and benefits of sustainable transport measures and initiatives:- Cost may be planning and implementation cost, project management cost, investment cost as well as recurrent expenditures such as operation, maintenance, administrative and enforcement cost. - Benefits may be additional jobs, travel money and travel time savings, revenues from fees and charges. - Socio-economic benefits go beyond economic benefits and comprise social and environmental components such as local air pollution, CO2-emissions, noise, access, traffic safety and liveability. This will be collated from a variety of international and domestic sources and European projects and categorised
