Description: Albenbraunellen brueten in Gruppen von 5-8 Individuen. Maennchen konkurrieren intensiv um den Zugang zu fertilen Weibchen innerhalb ihrer Gruppe. Mittels Vaterschaftsanalysen wird der Erfolg der Maennchen gemessen und mit ihrem Verhalten verglichen. Folgende Methoden werden benoetigt: Feldbeobachtung, Radiotelemetrie, DNA-Fingerprinting, Messung von Bruttemperaturen.

Title: Cooperative Breeding by Alpine Accentors (Prunella collaris): Ecological, Behavioural and Evolutionary Causes
Description: The Alpine Accentor is polygynandrous with 3-5 males and 2-3 females building one breeding group. Their habitat lies in mountain regions above the timber line. The aim of this study is to examine breeding groups over several years and to search for evolutionary causes which may have led to this mating system. Investigations are made on how males may raise their certainty of paternity and what result it has on their parental effort. Further, this study aims to work out adaptations what allows to raise young in such a harsh environment.
