Description: Das Projekt "Improvement in efficiency of the sugar industry through CDM (Swaziland)" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von GFA Envest GmbH durchgeführt. The main aim is the improvement of the sugar sector's efficiency and thereby of its profitability in consideration of the value chain from the producer of the sugar cane via the transport sector to the sugar factories. The specific objective contains the finding and estimation of data for the implementation of CDM-projects within the frame of the Kyoto-protocol plus the development of PINs and PDDs. Services provided: 1. phase: Data collection and estimation in Swaziland: Evaluation and analysis of the previous experiences and know-how, the markets as well as other key factors for the sugar industry in Swaziland; Acquisition of data for production factors, biomass availability and quality, its possible use in the energy generation etc.; Realisation of a workshop for the presentation of the results; 2. phase: Development of an energy concept as well as PINs and PDDs: Preparation of an energy concept with the goal of making the sugar industry more independent of imported energy; Evaluation of possibilities to generate a co-financing of necessary investments by the sale of certificates; Development of PINs for possible CDM-projects; Training of national staff for the monitoring of the projects and emissions Support during the validation process.
