Description: Das Projekt "Bewertung von Ansaetzen zur Innovationsentwicklung im Ressourcenmanagement durch Partizipatives Monitoring und Evaluierung" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Universität Hohenheim, Fakultät IV Agrarwissenschaften II, Institut für Sozialwissenschaften des Agrarbereichs, Fachgebiet Landwirtschaftliche Kommunikations- und Beratungslehre (430a) durchgeführt. Background: The mission of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) is to contribute, through its strategic and applied research, to promoting sustainable agriculture for food security in the developing countries. The focus is on increasing agricultural productivity, safeguarding natural resources, and supporting people-centered policies for environmentally sustainable development. Over the recent years, the goal of safeguarding natural resources has become equivalent to the aim of increasing agricultural productivity. The CGIAR is particularly committed to addressing the problems of the poor in less-endowed areas (CGIAR 1995). Therefore, the central challenge at CGIAR level consists in increasing the poverty- and problem-orientation of its research. User participation in the process of innovation development has become a growth topic over the last two decades and is increasingly requested by donors, in order to bring together indigenous and scientific knowledge, to provide quicker solutions to real problems, to develop innovations which have an impact at local level, and to build local capacities for adaptive research and local innovation development etc. The CGIAR Systemwide Program on 'Participatory Research and Gender Analysis for Technology Development and Institutional Innovation' (PRGA Program) is a concerted attempt to increase the impact of agricultural research through improved methods and practices of research. The objective is 'to assess and develop methodological and organizational innovations for gender-sensitive participatory research and to promote their use in plant breeding, crop and natural resource management.' Past experiences have shown that realities in risk prone areas and NRM are too complex to be dealt with and through any blueprint approach - whether participatory or not -, i.e. there is no ideal research approach and therefore permanent approach development and adaptation is an evident requirement, which leads us to learning process approaches. The project ensue in cooperation with CIAT/PRGA Program, Cali, Kolumbien, Proyecto Ciat-Laderas, Honduras, Proyecto IPCA (Partizipative Forschung in Zentralamerika), Honduras and Poryecto AFOCO (GTZ-unterstuetztes Projekt zur kommunalen Forstwirtschaft), Honduras.
