Sustainable Introduction of GMO's into European Agriculture - SIGMEA - SIGMEA, Teilprojekt 20

Description: Das Projekt "Sustainable Introduction of GMO's into European Agriculture - SIGMEA - SIGMEA, Teilprojekt 20" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Universität Hohenheim, Institut für Kulturpflanzenwissenschaften (340), Fachgebiet Allgemeiner Pflanzenbau (340a) durchgeführt. The overall objective of SIGMEA is to set up a science-based framework, strategies, methods and tools for assessing ecological and economical impacts of GM crops and for an effective management of their development within European cropping systems, i.e. to create a practical toolbox. Special attention will be paid to the co-existence between various types of agricultural cropping systems. To achieve this overall objective, SIGMEA brings together the principal teams and thus the principal programmes studying gene flow over a wide number of countries across Europe with a diversity of agricultural systems including organic and landrace cropping. Six regional case studies will be chosen for supporting the validation of tools designed in SIGMEA: three regions focusing on Bt-maize and three on herbicide tolerant Oilseed Rape.
