Optimized collective energy supply for DHW and HVAC in small residential areas constructed

Description: Das Projekt "Optimized collective energy supply for DHW and HVAC in small residential areas constructed" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Elektrizitätswerk Wesertal durchgeführt. Objective: The overall objective of this project is to design, erect, monitor and demonstrate two collective heat supply systems for 20 flats and 16 dwellings in a new housing estate 'Hofanlage Brombeerweg' (DE) which is a certified EXPO 2000 project. The primary aim is to achieve a total energy reduction of 28 per cent (plant 1) and 36 per cent (plant 2) when compared to the reference plant. The energy reduction will be achieved by the following combination of technologies: - plant 1: heat generated by a condensing unit, supported by solar collector system (vacuum solar pipes), central heat storage tank for the peak heat demand, decentralized heat exchangers and an innovative control software (DDC). - plant 2: two small gas fired cogeneration units, low temperatures gas boiler to cover peak heat demand, storage tanks with integrated small heat exchangers and an innovative control software (DDC). The monitoring and evaluation phase is estimated to take 29 months and the results will be disseminated. This project is estimated to take 2.9 years in total to complete all phases and additional benefits will include an estimated reduction per annum of 10.169 kg/a (plant 1) and 14.728 kg/a (plant 2) CO2. General Information: This project demonstrates innovative technology for the collective heat supply in low energy house areas with small energy demand. Two separated collective heating systems supply 10 flats in a living block and additional 8-10 dwellings each. The project coordinator Wesertal will plan, erect and operate these two heating plants by contracting. In spite of the high innovative efficient energy saving technique the initial investment costs will still be very low for each flat/house owner, compared to today's decentralized solutions. In plant 1 heat will be generated by a condensing gas unit, which will be supported by a large solar collector system built of vacuum solar pipes with highest efficiency and a maximum output of the solar energy. Plant 2 will be operated by two gas fired small cogeneration modules. The innovative control software of both collective heating systems recognizes the load profiles, adapts them and will optimize the operation of the heat generators in order to have always just enough heat within the storage tanks. Though, in both collective heat supply systems high-tech solutions are going to be used, the house owners or inhabitants do not have to handle or to maintain the complex technology, because this will be done by the specialists of the energy supplier, which is running a far instance diagnosis system using telephone communication links. The decentralized parts of the system consist of simple technique like pipes, fittings, heat exchangers or heat storage tanks. The remote control unit is programmed by the energy supplier, except of the time programming for HVAC and DHW, which the users have to do. ...
