Description: Das Projekt "Silviculture and Habitat Structure of Scots Pine Stands - Part of: Silviculture and Biodiversity in Scots Pine Forests in Europe (FAIR FP4)" wird/wurde gefördert durch: Kommission der Europäischen Gemeinschaften Brüssel. Es wird/wurde ausgeführt durch: Universität für Bodenkultur Wien, Institut für Waldbau.Since Scots pine is a light demanding species, the forests have comparatively simple structures. As it is a major forest species in a number of European countries there is already appreciable scientific knowledge about different aspects of management, genetics, not to mention fauna and flora.. However, as yet, there have been no attempts to concert this knowledge so as to formulate indicators of forest biodiversity that may be of practical value to managers. Results from this CA will be preliminary redommendations on appropriate silvicultural practice to favour biodiversity in Scots pine forests while providing sustainable timber yields.
