Metrology for radioactive waste management: Reference materials

Description: Das Projekt "Metrology for radioactive waste management: Reference materials" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt durchgeführt. The aim of the research activities is to develop standards and reference materials for ensuring accurate, traceable radio-assays of materials from sites (concrete, steel, aluminium, cables, wood, insulator and others). Such standards are required for the traceable calibrations of novel instruments and for nearly all decision measurements performed on site and off site regarding radioactive waste. The new procedures will also be very useful for the calibration of gamma-ray detectors in a laboratory with matrix standards, the testing of radiochemical procedures in a laboratory and the testing of gaseous measurements systems.
