Description: Das Projekt "KSI: Service- und Kompetenzzentrum Kommunaler Klimaschutz" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Deutsches Institut für Urbanistik gGmbH durchgeführt. Service and Competence Centre: Local Government Climate Action: The Service and Competence Centre: Local Government Climate Action (SK:KK) at the German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu) is the point of contact for all questions relating to funding opportunities, untapped potential and other aspects of local government climate action. Working on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), the SK:KK supports local governments in particular by advising them on funding opportunities, organising specialist and networking events, through publications on diverse topics and a website with a wealth of further information. In addition, it brings its expertise to bear in the scientific and policy debate. The SK:KK organises numerous specialist, training and networking events - all year round and across the whole of Germany - which address diverse topics, so that local governments can exchange views on practical matters on an equal footing and benefit from the experience of others. The SK:KK also issues publications relevant to these topics. Informative expert contributions and practical examples provided by local governments are intended to encourage others to follow suit. All the information about funding, plus publications and news on local government climate action, a calendar of events, practical examples and interviews with experts are available (in German only) at www.klimaschutz.de/kommunen. The German government has set itself the ambitious target of lowering greenhouse gas emissions in Germany by 95% by the year 2050. The BMUBs National Climate Action Initiative, launched in 2008, supports numerous projects and programmes by means of which this target is to be achieved. The Initiative includes the Funding Scheme for Local Governments (Kommunalrichtlinie), which is specifically tailored to meet the needs and demands of cities, municipalities and rural districts. It provides support to those local governments which are engaging in climate action and aim to reduce their energy costs in the long term. Advice regarding the Funding Scheme for Local Governments is available through the SK:KKs national hotline (+49 (0)30 39001-170).
