Description: Das Projekt "Liqufied gas technology to increase efficiency and control of in-situ remediation techniques" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Ucon GmbH durchgeführt. General Information: The feasibility of in situ soil remediation techniques is often limited because of their low efficiency, long duration and high financial risks (large variations of time and/or costs estimaties). This project aims at a revival of in situ soil remediation techniques. Liquefied gas will be used to induce crack formation in soils, thus increasing its permeability. Two main goals are identified: development of a gas injection system based on a comprehensive model for predicting the increased permeability analysis of technical and marketing demands for this new technique The feasibility of in situ techniques will strongly improve from a forced increase of soil permeability. This is particularly true for sites under buildings, where ex situ remediation offers no solution. Since 'gas fracturing' is yet available, the project covers the from theory to design and test equipment on a pilot scale. Prime Contractor: Nilieu Meetdienst Innogas B.V.; Gorinchem; Netherlands.
