Description: Das Projekt "A system of hierarchical monitoring methods for assessing changes in the biological and physical state of intertidal areas" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von GKSS-Forschungszentrum Geesthacht, Institut für Küstenforschung - Physikalische und Chemische Analytik durchgeführt. Inertial areas are unique ecosystems which are exposed to natural and anthrophgenic changes. To get information about these changes, a system of hierarchical monitoring methods for biological and physical parameter will be developed. End users, of whatever size and sophistication, can utilise the components of the HMM system in response to their requirements, because of the hierarchical structure. The HMM will be developed based on existing algorithms, available instrumentation and methods. It will be validated and further improved in field experiments, lasting over 21 month in order to proof the capability of change detection. The experiments and the subsequent implementation of the HMM will be conducted in co-operation with concerned monitoring authorities, partly being participants in the project.
