Natur, Oekologie, Umwelt und die europaeischen Gewerkschaften: Fallstudie in Frankreich, Deutschland und Italien

Description: Das Projekt "Natur, Oekologie, Umwelt und die europaeischen Gewerkschaften: Fallstudie in Frankreich, Deutschland und Italien" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Institut für Internationale Sozialforschung, Büro Berlin durchgeführt. The project addresses the following two questions drawing initially upon an examination of initially France, Germany and Italy. I) How do trade-unions and their members recognize ecological problems and react to them and how are to be identified the differences between the national and the union level? This analyse will allow the identification of oppositions between the concept of progress wich constitues an important point of the union thinking and the conservation of natural resources; II) How and in what organizational and institutional way do European trade unions influence national and private enterprise environment policy? In this Phase of the research the instruments and the strategies chosen by the Unions are investigated, together with the political framework in which the specific action is structured. The focus is on the sector of the metallurgical industry where the union tradition is strong and where several activities exist in the field of environmental policy. The methodology entails both interviews with personnel and union responsables and the analyse of existing literature and written materials produced by the Unions.
