Description: Das Projekt "Energy savings by decentral heating control via ultrasonic sensors" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Innotech Microelectronik GmbH durchgeführt. Objective: To demonstrate the possibility of ultrasonic transmission of data for decentralized control of room heating by radiators. The demo project covers 500 radiators over 20 buildings. General Information: The data are transmitted through the water pipes using ultrasonic transmitters and receivers. The transmitters are controlled through a special pc program. The receivers are integrated in the radiator valves; they are supplied with energy by means of batteries or solar cels. The investment cost are supposed to be 20 to 30 per cent less compared with wire-control-system; the expected savings are up to 20-40 per cent. Innovative aspects: the ultrasonic way of data transmission. Achievements: The final report was submitted on April 1992. It was proved that ultrasonic data construction as a system for single room temperature control can be technically and economically efficient. However, the equipment does not seem sufficiently for market penetration.
