Description: Das Projekt "Rekultivierung von degradierten Gebieten in polykulturellen Gebieten" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Universität Hamburg, Institut für Angewandte Botanik durchgeführt. Degraded areas of former rubber plantations in the Amazonbasin will be used for the installation of an experimental mixed culture plantation. The plants selected for the consortional planting are chosen under the aspects of 1) adaptation to the Amazon environment, 2) importance of the crop, 3) soil microbiological impact for stabilization of the ecosystem. The aim of the project is to develop an acceptable heterogenous production system with selected soil biological qualities. Workplan and schedule: 1) Installation of the system is combined with plant sociological and soil biological inventory studies, 2) Stabilization factors and parameters of the artificial system are worked out in comparison with natural sites, 3) Production parameters of biomass and of agricultural products are to be developed, 4) Socioeconomic practicability and acceptance will be investigated. Major work, sharing events, visits, workshops: A coordinative meeting of supervisors and coordinators will take place in the starting phase. Additional meetings and workshops will be carried out within the general meetings of the SHIFT-program. Field trials and type of final results/product: The growth and production parameters of the plants as well as the microbiological quality of the soil will be monitored in tight collaboration with the colleagues of EMBRAPA and UNAMAZ, also the socioeconomic aspects will be evaluated mutually. Results will be published in joint publications of the co-workers and technical informations on new soil treatment techniques using microbiological symbiontic inocula will be distributed by the EMBRAPA/EMATER.
