Tiefsee-Vorschubvorrichtung

Description: Das Projekt "Tiefsee-Vorschubvorrichtung" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Boenke durchgeführt. Objective: Deep-sea Thrusters can be used in the Deep Sea Drilling to position the Blow Out Preventer on the seafloor and also allow easier handling of the Re-Entry of the Riser System. This concerns water depths beginning below 1000 m. A further aspect are deep diving vessels to avoid the unsafety of hydraulic aggregates to be used as well as the so far not tested rubber sealings of turning parts which behave critical under high pressure conditions according to the material's floating point. The innovation is seen in the substitution of complete hydraulic aggregates and drives or electrical components, that have to be pressure compensated and withstand only certain depths. A new concept was seen in preparing the thruster to work as a down -hole pump. General Information: The aim of the project was the construction and prototype manufactoring of an electric deep-sea thruster without rotating sealings. The project was separated into three main parts: a) Mathematical calculation and Mechanical Construction of the prototype. The motor will be a completely new development, that requires complete mathematical and electrical calculation of stator and rotor, as well as a new mechanical layout concerning water tightness of the stator windings, an optimal slot between rotor and stator and a new squirrel cage with integrated propellers. b) Manufactoring of the prototype. c) Dry-, wet- and pressure tests of the manufactured propeller system. The dry tests shall give the mathematical basis to recalculate the electrical values, that can be reached in sea water. Wet tests under normal conditions in a basin gave first force and water flow results. High pressure tests in a pressure chamber are obtained to prove the watertightness and resistance of the materials used. Achievements: An electric motor was calculated, constructed and built, that shall be able to work completely open in seawater and under maximum seawater pressure, which is concerned to be up to 1000 bar. The implemented rotor has an cylindric opening and holds on it's axis directly the propeller blades. Problems that a raised while testing the motor where the power losses according to the magnetic saturation in the rotor.
