Creation of sand equivalent to the German recycling quality grades RALI and RAL II as a building material. General Information: The processing of environmentally dangerous mud, soil and sand contaminated with organic materials and heavy metals so that they can be utilised safely is a problem yet to be solved in this decade. The primary goal of the project is: the creation of reusable material fractions, that conform to the German recycling quality grades RALI and RALII, and for which there is a demand in the building and building materials industry. The task of the project is: - to erect a demonstration plant based on the WAMINEX process, which was developed from the operation of a small technical experimental plant - to achieve technical optimisation of this plant with regard to process as well as plant components. The WAMINEX plant consists of two processing lines: - In the mud processing line, mud from oil separation plants, mud containing earth and sand, mud from water purification plants as well as fine sand and clay suspensions are treated. Organic contaminants are separatedby extraction close to the boiling point. The heavy metals are separated by a combination of extraction and crystallisation. - In the sand processing line , clay and fine sand particles contaminated by organic materials and heavy metals are removed from the border sediment of the sand particles by means of mechanical processing machines (hydrocyclon, Wendel-separator, attrition plant, separator). In doing so, it is possible to directly utilise the sand in the building and building materials industry.
