This metadata refers to the presence of marine litter. It present information on marine litter items by beach and marine region, based on Marine Litter Watch (MLW). The European Environment Agency has developed Marine LitterWatch mobile app to collect information on marine litter and strengthen Europe’s knowledge base and thus provide support to European policy making. Marine LitterWatch is a citizen science based app that aims to help fill data gaps in beach litter monitoring.
This dataset contains the location and administrative data for the largest industrial complexes in Europe, releases and transfers of regulated substances to all media, waste transfers reported under the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) and as well as more detailed data on energy input and emissions for large combustion plants (reported under IED Art.72).
This metadata refers to the geospatial dataset representing the status of the EEA Industrial Reporting database as of 28 February 2023 (version 8). The release and emissions data cover the period 2007-2021 as result of the data reported under the new E-PRTR facilities, 2017-2020 for IED installations and WI/co-WIs, and 2016-2021 for LCPs. These data are reported to EEA under Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) 2010/75/EU Commission Implementing Decision 2018/1135 and the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) Regulation (EC) No 166/2006 Commission Implementing Decision 2019/1741. The dataset brings together data formerly reported separately under E-PRTR Regulation Art.7 and under IED Art.72. Additional reporting requirements under the IED are also included.

IMPORTANT NOTE: the reference version of the EEA industrial reporting database is the one provided as MS Access database (MDB) in: https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/industrial-reporting-under-the-industrial-4. In this web page, a PDF document (EEA_Industrial_Reporting_Metadata_v7) is provided with the database structure and use information (also available for download through this catalogue). The geospatial file (Geopackage format) provided by the EEA geospatial catalogue reflects completely the content in the MDB file but it is NOT the reference version and should not be considered as such. However, in the transformation of MDB to Geopackage, some tables and attributes had to be renamed to accommodate the technical requirements of the Geopackage format, see README_renamedColumns.txt, which is provided with the geospatial file. United Kingdom is covered in the period from 2007 to 2020. Northern Ireland is covered from 2021. The E-PRTR database is updated annually as a minimum.
