Das Projekt "Entwicklung eines Mangementplanes fuer die Verringerung der Umweltschaedlichkeit von Flughaefen: eine Fallstudie fuer den Flughafen Thessaloniki" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Universität Trier, European Association for Environmental Management Education - Focal Point Trier -, Europäisches Diplom in Umweltwissenschaften durchgeführt. Aviation is the most growing transportation mean. According to the I.C.A.O. and I.A.T.A. surveys until the end of this century more than the 50 percent of Passengers and the 25 percent of Products will use the 'Air way' movement. Despite the increasing importance of aviation some problems occurs during the operation (Airports, Aircrafts, Support, Air traffic). The Environmental Impact Assessments are analysed in this dissertation focused on the impacts of the airports operation. The impacts are on the air (pollution, noise) but also on the water (waste water, contamination of the underwater by several activities e.g. oil companies) and soils (solid waste, contamination of ground or change of the topography). The European and international experience in accordance with the transnational legislation for the above is the guide for the Development of Management plan applied to the Thessaloniki Airport.
