F2 hatchling length (mm), clutch size (total number of eggs) and average egg diameter (mm) of the clutch depending on grandparent and parent heatwave treatment
This dataset summarizes allometric measurements on zooplankton and nekton species performed in the framework of the Dutch and German ICEFLUX projects. Measurements were performed on 639 individuals of 15 species from the Southern Ocean and 2374 individuals of 14 species from the Arctic Ocean, including euphausiids, fish, pelagic and ice-associated amphipods, cnidarians, salps, siphonophores, chaetognaths and a copepod. Animals were collected during three expeditions in the Southern Ocean (winter and summer) and three expeditions in the Arctic Ocean (spring and summer). In addition to measurements on length and mass, the sizes of body parts were measured, such as carapaces, eyes, heads, telsons, tails and otoliths.
F1 offspring (fry) length (mm) depending on parent and offspring heatwave treatment at 30, 60 and 90 days post-hatch
Hatchling length (mm) upon hatching depending on parental heatwave treatment, and including average egg size of the clutch (mm) and clutch size (total number of eggs)
F1 adult clutch size (total eggs), average egg diameter (mm) plus the standard deviation, and maternal length (mm) depending on grandparent and parent heatwave treatment
Long-term survival of F1 offspring throughout the 2 year experiment (at 409, 611 and 717 days post-hatch) depending on parent and offspring heatwave treatment
F1 offspring as adults used for breeding the F2 generation showing the number of males and females in the experiment, and the % of those that went into breeding condition depending on grandparent and parent heatwave treatment
Activity rate (average sum of distance in cm) and total percent of arena explored by F1 offspring depending on offspring heatwave treatment
Short-term survival of F1 offspring during the 90 day growth experiment depending on parent and offspring (beaker) heatwave treatment
Exploration behavior of F1 offspring in terms of time spent exploring (seconds) and percent of arena explored depending on offspring heatwave treatment.
