Overall objectives and location: The overall objective of the ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (ARCBC) is to intensify Biodiversity conservation in the ASEAN countries through improved cooperation in a comprehensive regional context, by assisting in setting up a network of institutional links among ASEAN countries and between ASEAN and EU partner organisations. The project will assist the ASEAN member countries (as identified in tile Project's Financing Agreement) in developing a framework for improving technical and institutional approaches for managing biodiversity conservation through regional co-operation. This aim is considered to be best achieved by supporting tile establishment of an ASEAN-Regional Centre for Bio-diversity Conservation (ARCBC), located in Los Banos, Philippines. The ARCBC will serve as a central point for the elaboration and co-ordination of a permanent regional network, through the National Bio-diversity Reference Units (NBRUs) located in the ASEAN countries.
