Das Projekt "Natural tannin based adhesives for wood composite products of low or no formaldehyde emission" wird vom Umweltbundesamt gefördert und von Bakelite AG - Anwendungstechnik Epoxidharze durchgeführt. General Information: The project envisages the investigation of a series of hardening systems and their reactions for tannin suitable for wood adhesives. These are based mainly on the catalytically induced auto condensation of polyflavonoid tannin couples to a series of different hardeners. From this study, a series of low formaldehyde emission, or in the best case of no-formaldehyde emission adhesive formulations based on natural products will be obtained. These will be extensively tested at laboratory and pilot plant levels on products such as wood particleboard, plywood, and laminated timber and finger joints. Prime Contractor: Universite de Nancy I, Ecole Nationale Superieure des Technologies et Industries du Bois; Epinal Cedex 9; France.
