This data set accompanies the scientific publication "Hydrodynamics of four moments in the life of a floodplain forest in compound channels" in the peer-reviewed journal Water Resources Research (WRR / ISSN 1944-7973 / Wiley).
This dataset contains processed hydraulic variables derived from controlled experimental measurements conducted in a laboratory scale compound-channel, with a floodplain forest patch representing different stages of forest succession. The data represent time-averaged and spatially averaged quantities describing water depth, flow velocity, discharge, mixing layer properties, and momentum exchange.
The data set consists of
1. Time averaged water depth
2. Time- and depth averaged flow velocity
3. Time- and sub-sectionally averaged flow velocity
4. Mixing layer characteristics
5. Time- and sub-sectionally averaged flow discharge
6. Transversal exchange of streamwise momentum
